2017 New Year Resolutions

It’s ok guys, we have finally made it to 2017! It’s been one hell of a year for me, and for the world, and so I wanted to take a little look back at my resolutions from last year and see if I stuck to my guns! Plus set myself a few challenges for the year ahead. So here goes…

“Write, write and then write some more!”

Well I suppose I had a good crack at this one. I could be writing much more on my blog than I maybe should be, but as I’ve said before, who wants their blog to feel like a chore?! I also wanted to start writing a book. I’m still playing around with this idea and have a few options of what to write but, I need some time in my life when it’s a bit less hectic! Either way, I definitely feel my writing is something I’ve focused on much more this year and I want that to continue! So let’s see how Cup of Koko develops this year 🙂 (Also can we believe my blog is over a year old!! MENTAL!!)

“Don’t be afraid to try new things.”

OK Now this one I KNOW I achieved. I have done so many things I never ever thought I would do this year. I went on my first solo trip, to THAILAND! I went scuba diving even though my heart was in my mouth for the entire first dive. I did an entire month teetotal. I went on a mad girl’s weekend to Amsterdam and just LET MY HAIR DOWN without feeling any remorse. I totally 100% DID THIS RESOLUTION. And it felt amazing. More fearlessness to be expected this year for sure!

“Stop being a lazy bum”

Ok. So…. I’ve been a bit slack with this one. I’ve gotten a little bit unfit over the last 6 months because I’ve struggled to find the motivation. However, I have started getting back to the gym, plus I have signed up for a 10k in 6 weeks time which is all the motivation I need to get back in shape. I want to try and get some routine down soon but this just takes trial and error. So… work in progress! 🙂

“Get Back into the Kitchen.”

I’ve definitely been doing this one. I love cooking. I love cooking for others. And with moving into my new flat, i’m hoping a dinner party will soon be on the table so even more reason to get experimenting in the kitchen. I should be better at cooking food to take into work but hopefully I can get into a routine with that as well, which in turn will lead to a more healthy Kayleigh!

“Learn something new”

So I would say that i’ve attempted this. I’ve done a couple of projects with my crochet and my new sewing machine but I want to take this to another level next year. I need to stock up on some nice fabrics and yarn and then hopefully this can become a more regular hobby for me!

I didn’t do too badly did i?

 2016 New Year Resolutions

I’m actually really impressed with how much I’ve managed to achieve this year and for sticking to my goals. I think this does prove that if you set some rough targets for yourself it can totally lead to a more focused year. But also, we can’t beat ourselves up if we don’t fully master something. Life is totally a work in progress! For me, 2016 was my year of saying YES to everything and jumping in feet first. It’s been a total rollercoaster and I have so many hilarious stories that have been entertaining me and my pals all year. But if 2016 was my Yes year, then 2017 needs to be my “Hmmm.. Yes!” year. I think it’s time to start taking a more measured approach to my life so that I avoid any heartache, injuries or awkward moments (yeah.. as great as this year was there was a lot of those!) I don’t regret any of my mistakes from this year, but a lot could have been avoided if I’d just taken a quick minute to think things through. So, in that light, here’s my goals for 2017…

Invest my money in things that last

This seems kind of boring, but what I mean is that I want to be spending my money wisely. I shouldn’t be going out every weekend and spending so much on nights out that really aren’t that exciting! It’s time to start saving a bit more, spending my money on travelling and experiences, rather than 4 cheap dresses from Primark. Plus, i’m moving into a new flat that needs furniture, so I have other priorities to be aware of. So yes, this is going to be a year of spending wisely.. she says hopefully! 🙂

Find a fitness routine that fits

As I said before, I struggle to keep motivated with my fitness. This needs to be the year where I really get to grips with what works for my body, and how to keep a routine going. If I need to make a schedule then so be it, but exercise needs to be something I drum into my brain this year! I MUST NOT BE A FLABBY KAYLEIGH!

Utilise my free time wisely

I am a Netflix obsessed duvet wielding twit at the moment. My Sundays off are usually spent hungover, in bed, pondering my life choices whilst rewatching Stranger Things. Now don’t get me wrong, some days this is great, but not every weekend. I’d love to start taking some more day trips, or going to local events like a gig down the pub, just so that I have the opportunity to socialise with my mates outside of the theatre world, and maybe meet some new people.

Learn more new things

I have no idea what this really means. But i got to grips with my sewing machine this year, now I need another challenge. Maybe i should take a course, or learn a language?! But SOMETHING NEW MUST BE LEARNT. I want to make sure my education never ever stops! 🙂

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT. My goals for the upcoming year. Not too challenging but still not easy so I’m intrigued to see how I get on over the next year. I can’t wait to document my adventures on here again and share a bit of my world with you all. Thanks for reading for the past year and here’s to another year of fun and frolics.

BRING ON 2017!

How about learning Yoga? Should fix the workout and fitness issue too. Since I seriously got into Vinyasa Flow I have never been more fit in terms of muscles and stamina. (Plus had quite a lot of sore muscles after each time but Hey – at least you feel you have some…)

No, haven’t heard of her but there are *so* many Yoga instructors… I have signed up with a studio that offers classes 7 days a week, so there’s no excuse not to go if I can’t make it to my regular classes. My goal is to attend 2 times in 7 days which gives me enough exercise to keep in shape. Plus they have many differerent instructors, each with their own style which keeps it interesting to attend.
So good luck in 2017 in any way that you need. And enjoy your Yoga – whatever style. 😊
