It is currently 11.30pm on a Sunday Evening, and I have instantly had to take to my blog to express how I feel after just witnessing Gypsy Live from the Savoy on BBC4. For those of you who aren’t aware, I currently work in the West End and so Musical Theatre is held VERY close to my heart. And this Christmas I have had the absolute joy of having TWO musicals streamed “Live” on my TV. I could NOT be happier if i tried.
We were first of all lucky to witness ITV’s Sound of Music which was a reinvention of the classic for live television. In my opinion, it was executed to perfection. It’s casting was brilliant, the technical aspects were carried out seamlessly and the performances were top class. It was interesting to watch this medium being performed live as if on a movie set. I can only imagine the chaos backstage during the performance and I completely commend the entire cast and crew for a brilliant showcase of talent that I hope urges ITV to commission more television musicals. It was also really interesting to see a musical put into this medium (even though we obviously have the Sound of Music movie as a reference as well!)
Christmas Day may well have passed, but the spirit of Christmas is something that always lingers and is what makes this time of year one of my absolute favorites. I am the coziest, calmest and probably heaviest I have been all year – and I couldn’t feel better for it. However, it’s become clear to me that everyone’s Christmases are SO different from each other and so I wanted to share my Five Things that I love about MY Christmas, just the way we do it.
So I restarted my blog in the hope that I would be posting two to three blog posts a week regularly. However, recently I discovered that life can get in the way of that. Sometimes you have to take the decision to pull away from things and focus on yourself so that you can get past obstacles in the best way possible. And so I would like to apologise for my silence. It hasn’t been through laziness, but through necessity.
I can safely say that I have over the last few days been planning some great new posts for anyone who wants to read it and who has been disappointed about my lack of updates! So please do come back in the next few days for some more posts and hopefully some christmassy themed reads.
I hope all your festivities are going swimmingly and look forward to having you back here at Cup of Koko again 🙂
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL.
